ZOSI C298 Max vs Pro vs SE: How to Tell the C298 Versions Apart

"C298" covers at least five ZOSI cameras. Four are dual-lens WiFi models that look almost identical on a wall, and one is a PoE version sold in a recorder kit. Product titles usually describe them by resolution ("4K 8MP", "4MP") rather than Max, Pro or SE, so it's easy to buy the wrong one. ZOSI's own C298 spec sheet ties each name to a model number, and that's the cleanest way to sort them out.
Decode the model number
Swipe sideways to see the whole table →
| Name on ZOSI's spec sheet | Model number | Lenses (bullet + dome) | Pixels | Hybrid zoom |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| C298 (base) | 1NC-2984D-US | 4mm + 4mm | 2MP + 2MP | No |
| C298 Max | 1NC-2988M-US | 2.8mm wide + 8mm telephoto | 4MP + 4MP | 8X |
| C298 Pro | 1NC-2988D-US | 4mm + 4mm | 4MP + 4MP | No |
| C298 SE | 1NC-2986D-US | 4mm + 4mm | 4MP + 2MP | No |
Only the Max mixes a wide lens with a telephoto, so it's the only one with hybrid zoom. The others use two matching 4mm lenses and differ in resolution. When a product title only says "4K" or "4MP", look for the model number in the product details and match it to this table.
The two WiFi C298s we carry
- The C298 4K 8MP Dual-Lens PTZ WiFi has model name AJ-1NC-2988M-US, which makes it the Max. Its 2.8mm wide lens watches the whole scene while the 8mm telephoto pulls in detail, and the pair gives you the 8X hybrid zoom. ZOSI's sheet puts the wide lens at 110° horizontal and the telephoto at 43°.
- The C298 4MP Dual-Lens PT WiFi is model 1NC-2984D-US, the base C298: a 2MP (1920x1080) bullet lens plus a 2MP dome lens, both 4mm.
We don't carry the Pro or SE on their own.
What every WiFi C298 shares
Per ZOSI's spec sheet, all four WiFi versions share:
- 2.4GHz WiFi
- a wired network port
- 30m infrared range, with full-color night vision
- IP66 weatherproofing
- a DC12V/2A power supply
- the same 725g housing, 260 x 150 x 180mm wall-mounted
- two-way audio and a light-and-siren alarm
- person and vehicle detection with area intrusion, loitering and entry/exit rules
- micro SD (up to 256GB), cloud or ZOSI NVR storage
Our product pages quote ZOSI's own descriptions and say 355° of horizontal rotation, while the spec sheet says 270°. The 4K Max's page also gives a 128GB card limit. Expect the coverage and card size to depend on the version and firmware, and go by the lower figure if it matters.
Small differences that trip people up
- ONVIF: The Max, Pro and SE support it. The base C298's sheet says ONVIF is "temporarily" not supported.
- Alexa: Max, Pro and SE work with Alexa, according to the sheet. The base model doesn't.
- Setup: The base C298 can be set up by Bluetooth or the camera's AP hotspot. The others use the AP hotspot only.
Questions people search
Does the C298 work on 5GHz WiFi?
No. ZOSI's help center says the C298 doesn't work with 5G networks yet, so join it to your router's 2.4GHz band.
Can a WiFi C298 run on PoE?
No. ZOSI's answer is that the C298 doesn't support PoE power and needs its power cord, even though it has a network port.
Can I add a WiFi C298 to a ZOSI NVR?
Yes, but ZOSI's help center notes that the NVR shows only one of its two images, while the ZOSI Smart app shows both.
So what's the C298 PoE?
It's a different camera, sold in the C298 8CH 4K PoE kit with 4 dual-lens cameras. Each camera takes power and video over one Ethernet cable and pairs a fixed lens with a rotating one (355° horizontal, 90° vertical), at 4MP + 4MP (2560x1440). The 8-port NVR comes with a 2TB drive and grows to 16 channels with an extra PoE switch. If you want dual-lens cameras recording to a box instead of a card, start there.
